HYALURONIC ACID
HYALURONIC ACID INJECTION
The non-invasive aesthetic treatments are becoming increasingly popular as they are faster, minimally painful and have a much lower degree of difficulty and complication rate than plastic surgery.
A Simple and immediate solution for the problem of severe wrinkles and folds in the skin are the injectable implants based on the hyaluronic acid, a substance that exists in our body anyway. This means that it not only fills wrinkles but also replaces something that our skin has lost over time.
UNDERSTANDING OUR SKIN
The skin is the main organ of beauty, touch, pleasure and sensuality. It consists of three layers, each of which plays a crucial role in its health.
1η deeper layer is the subcutaneous tissue and consists of fatty tissue, which acts as a substrate and supports the other two layers.
2η middle layer is the dermis ή main skin. Contains collagen and elastin which give shape and elasticity and are constantly renewed in a youthful and healthy skin. Over time, the skin tends to develop folds and wrinkles as a result of reduced elastin levels in the skin. In this layer are the blood vessels, hair follicles, sweat glands and fat (sebum) producing glands. As the years go by, the fat-producing glands become less active and the skin tends to develop fine lines.
3rd surface layer better known as epidermis is where cell renewal takes place. In young skins the renewal – replacement of cells is done every 15 – 30 days as, as we age, this process takes twice as long.
How can non-surgical cosmetic procedures help?
Η ageing of the face is manifested by two forms :
- on dynamic wrinkles due to muscular activity
- on static wrinkles due to volume loss
By addressing these two forms of facial aging we can achieve a perfectly natural and balanced result.
Injectable hyaluronic acid replenishes lost volume and helps to treat static wrinkles by replenishing the natural hyaluronic acid that has remained in the skin.
What happens to the skin over time?
- 25 years old: the first signs of ageing become visible because the skin starts to replace cells at a slower rate.
- 30 years of age: more fine lines appear as collagen fibres decrease and the fragile skin under the eyes begins to thin.
- 40 years old: deeper wrinkles appear around the mouth and eyes. Folds appear on the forehead and the circles around the eyes develop into bags. The skin becomes noticeably drier.
- 45 years old: thinner skin due to hormonal changes, more sensitive to irritations and allergens in the environment. It gradually loses much of its elasticity and authenticity.
- 50 years old: signs of aging, freckles appear in 90% of the population.
What exactly is YALURONIC ACID?
The hyaluronic acid exists in a natural form within our body, it helps to hydration and gives volume the skin.
One third of the hyaluronic acid in our body is replaced every day but the amount of hyaluronic acid our body produces decreases over time.
It is also used in various medical procedures such as eye surgery and in tissue engineering. It is usually of non-animal origin and has been clinically filtered to provide natural and long-lasting aesthetic results. It has excellent safety profile and are absorbable, so the aesthetic effect is not permanent, thus eliminating the risk of any permanent change.
How long does the treatment last?
Each session lasts a maximum of 15 to 20 minutes. You should, of course, take into account the time needed for consultation with your doctor before treatment.
Will I immediately notice the difference?
Yes, the aesthetic effect is immediate. You will see the results at the end of the session.
Will I need to take time off from work?
Of course and not! You can schedule the session during your lunch and return to work immediately afterwards.
Are there any possible side effects?
After the injection, you may experience slight redness, swelling or oedema in the area of application. The doctor can tell you about this. In any case, these side effects do not last and can easily be covered with a regular make-up. In the rare case that the above symptoms persist for more than a week or you notice other symptoms you should contact your doctor. All treatments that involve injection carry a risk of infection.
How long does the result last?
This depends on a variety of factors such as :
- Age
- The injection point
- Quantity injected
- Quality of the skin
- life style
- Health
Is there anything else I should know before suing?
I advise you to do not use aspirin or other non-steroidal drugs (with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory action) two days before the hyaluronic acid injection. This will reduce the chances of maceration at the injection site.
When will I need a repeat session?
In most cases repetition is needed 6 – 12 months after the first session. Many patients wish to have additional sessions and repeat injections for maintenance their appearance.
