BRACHIOPLASTY

WITH A MOMMA

Anaesthesia: local, intoxication or general (as appropriate).
Place: Organized and fully equipped clinic.
Duration: 1 – 3 hours.
Stay: from 4 hours to 1 day.
Pain: Mild, possible use of painkillers.
Swelling: Up to 7-10 days. Elastic bandages and hand elevation.
Stitches: Usually absorbable, (otherwise removed after about 12 days).
Bandages – Gauze: 3 – 4 weeks.
Normal rehabilitation: usually immediately, 3 – 5 days rest.
Work: after 1 week at least.
Exercise: After 1 month.
Final Result: Up to 6 months.
Combined: with another operation (e.g. abdominoplasty)

THE PREPARATION

At the initial visit you will be asked to explain in detail what exactly is bothering you. Be specific about what you wish to correct.

The doctor will check the looseness of the skin, excess fat and general quality with the tone of the skin.

It should be reported if you have any of the following:

Diabetes mellitus
Smoking
Hypertension
Thyroid Diseases
Sedative drugs
Special mention should be made of whether weight has been reduced and how long the patient remains stable at this weight (bariatric medicine).

Someone who has a neurological or upper limb vascular disease.
Lymphadenitis of the upper limb after removal of axillary lymph nodes.
Connective tissue diseases.

At brachioplasty, the incisions, because of their location, are more visible than any other cosmetic surgery. That is why they are analyzed preoperatively, recording and drawing with a marker in hand, so that the patient has a complete picture. There will be improvement over time but to a certain extent, they will always be visible.

THE INVASION

With local anesthesia, intoxication or general anesthesia depending on the problem.

There are three categories of patients:

α) With excess fat and good skin tone – treatment is done with PAL liposuction only.

b) Patients with or without excess fat and slight skin laxity – liposuction and mini brachioplasty in the armpit.

c) Patients with severe skin laxity – brachioplasty with an incision from the chest to the elbow.

* Often combinations of the above are made.

THE RENEWAL

Stay in the clinic: from a few hours to 1 night.

Taking painkillers and antibiotics.

Hands bound with bandages and then with special elastics for 3 – 4 weeks.

It is recommended that they be raised to reduce the swelling.
